2007-5-1  The major objective of this study is to develop the high modulus asphalt binder (HAMB) and mix (HMAM) applicable to the asphalt base layer for long life asphalt pavements. Various laboratory tests have been conducted on the developed HMAB and HMAM to evaluate the performance characteristics such as fatigue cracking and permanent deformation.

It has done performance comparison among AC20, Sup20 and EME20 using AH70# asphalt. The results show that high modulus asphalt mixture EME2 has high temperature stability and anti-fatigue capability.

2007-5-1  Dynamic modulus test results showed that the modulus of the HMAM was 50% higher than those of the conventional mix at the high temperatures. The results of performance test indicated that the resistances of the HMAM against moisture, rutting, and fatigue damage were better than those of the conventional mix.
